A group of volunteers (the MPWC Board) coordinate a variety of activities for the Middle Plantation Women's Club members. Members are invited to bring a guest occasionally; however, most activities are designed for the ladies of Middle Plantation to socialize and make new friends in our community! We need volunteer hosts, co-hosts and homes to make these events come to life, so please get involved!
The following events may be included in our calendar each year:
Kickoff: Each year we begin our year with a gathering of returning and new members and share cocktails as we register members and discuss our events for the year ~ and welcome volunteers to make every event a success!
Oktoberfest: Members are invited to bring a guest (or come solo) to join together for beer and shared appetizers outside as we welcome the fall season.
Mini-Charcuterie Make and Take: Join us as we learn the craft of charcuterie making.
Gift Exchange: A fun evening of holiday cheer as we take turns opening and stealing member-brought gifts.
Roving Dinner: Members and their guest (or if needed, we will pair you up with another member!) enjoy a fun filled evening sharing Tapas or dinner at three different homes. Each round you will join 4 to 8 different couples. At the end of the night, all guests gather in a fourth home for dessert. You will be paired with other participants to coordinate your assigned round. Each participant must be willing and prepared to be a host home or co-host. Dessert/Round 4 is ALWAYS reserved for new MPWC members!
Back to the 80's Game Night: We will have an Back to the 80's Game Night including billiards, ping pong and other activities. Dinner and drinks will be provided. Start looking through your attic for your leg warmers, scrunchies, and M.C Hammer pants!!
Murder Mystery Party: Members and their guest will enjoy a fun filled night of "Whodunit". Each guest will be given a character to play, information to share, and secrets to keep. Several of you will succumb to one murderous guest. Who will solve this mystery?
End of Year Event: We close our year with a gathering of members to welcome summer and enjoy a bit more socializing!
Book Club: The Women's Club offers both a daytime and an evening book club. Each group meets once a month (on a Monday) to discuss chosen books. Members take turns hosting in their homes.
Bunco: Groups of 12 women meet once a month on a designated evening (typically weekday evening) to play an easy dice game for fun. No skill required! Members take turns hosting their group one time a year. Each group is provided with a sub list (those who would prefer to fill in when available) which you may sign up for!
Host "Your Own" Event: Create your own event as a host of a Women’s Club Event or Party. Rest assured that you will always have a team of co-hosts to help with the planning and costs. All you need to provide is the space and let us know what to do!
AND... along with these functions, we plan additional events, outings and classes! We always welcome suggestions and look forward to meeting new friends and making memories each year!
Ways to Get Involved in Middle Plantation ~
Middle Plantation Civic League Activities:
MPWC helps coordinate family activities sponsored by the Civic League, such as the Halloween Parade, Easter Egg Hunt, and Fourth of July festivities. Please contact MPCL if you are interested in assisting with these events! The Civic League also has meetings which welcome all of our Middle Plantation families. Your Civic League dues provide for the signage and landscaping at all our entrances, the resourceful family DIRECTORY, and keeping us in the know with city officers and VBPD. Please support our Civic League and continue to keep Middle Plantation as desirable as it is!
Be a Co-Host or Helper: Planning and preparing for a party is half of the fun! Hosts open their home for an event or party... and Co-Hosts participate by sharing the costs of the drinks, ice, and paper goods. Gather a group of friends and sign up!
Join the Middle Plantation Women’s Club Board: The group is always in need of great ladies who wish to share their ideas, time and talents to make MPWC a success. Please let us know if you have an interest.
